I believe South Dakota's future depends on strong communities, healthy families, quality education, economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and respect for all people. My vision is rooted in service, common sense, and the Lakota values of honesty, compassion, wisdom, respect, generosity, humility, and courage.
South Dakota's land, water, and natural resources are sacred and must be protected for future generations.
I oppose industrial development that threatens our environment, including large-scale data centers powered by fossil fuels that place enormous demands on our water, energy, and infrastructure while providing limited long-term benefits to local communities. South Dakota should invest in sustainable industries that create jobs without sacrificing our land, water, and way of life.
I also oppose mining in the Black Hills and near drinking water sources. Clean water is essential for every family, community, ranch, farm, and tribe. Once contaminated, these resources may never fully recover. We have a responsibility to protect the places that sustain us.
Every student deserves a pathway to success.
Not every young person wants or needs a traditional four-year degree. I support expanding vocational and technical education opportunities that allow students to graduate with industry-recognized certifications and real workforce experience.
South Dakota should create vocational high schools and career academies where students can become certified electricians, welders, construction workers, mechanics, healthcare workers, and other skilled professionals before graduation. By combining classroom instruction with hands-on apprenticeships and on-the-job training, we can build a highly skilled workforce while reducing barriers to employment.
Strong communities begin with stable homes.
Young families should have a realistic path to homeownership. I support programs that help first-time homebuyers overcome barriers such as limited credit history, high interest rates, and rising housing costs.
Affordable housing should focus on helping families build equity through homeownership rather than trapping them in cycles of long-term dependency. Every family deserves the opportunity to establish roots, build wealth, and create stability for future generations.
South Dakota's economy should be built by South Dakotans.
I support investments in workforce development, skilled trades, manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, and infrastructure projects that create sustainable careers. We need more opportunities for blue-collar workers and stronger partnerships between schools, businesses, and training programs.
By developing a highly skilled workforce, South Dakota can attract responsible businesses that provide good wages and strengthen local communities.
The first peoples of this land deserve justice, respect, and a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their communities.
I support honoring treaty obligations and meaningful discussions regarding the future stewardship of the Black Hills and public lands. Native communities must be included as equal partners in decisions affecting sacred sites, cultural resources, and traditional homelands.
The values of honesty, compassion, wisdom, respect, generosity, and humility should guide public policy for all South Dakotans, regardless of background.
Public safety and accountability are important, but incarceration alone does not solve the underlying causes of crime.
I support expanding culturally grounded intervention programs, restorative justice practices, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, workforce development, and community-based rehabilitation efforts. Our justice system should focus on reducing recidivism, strengthening families, and helping people successfully reintegrate into society while maintaining accountability for harmful actions.
The safety of women and children must be a top priority.
I support stronger penalties and greater accountability for crimes involving sexual abuse, child abuse, neglect, human trafficking, and exploitation. At the same time, diversion and intervention programs should be available when appropriate to prevent future harm and support healthy families.
I am committed to addressing the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, People, and Relatives (MMIWP) crisis through improved investigations, increased accountability, better coordination between agencies, and stronger support services for victims and families.
I also support strengthening the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), expanding foster care resources, recruiting more qualified foster families, and ensuring children remain connected to their families, cultures, and communities whenever safely possible.
South Dakota's future will not be built through division. It will be built by people willing to listen, work together, and invest in one another.
I am committed to serving all South Dakotans and creating opportunities for future generations while protecting the land, communities, and values that make our state strong.
I will fight for you my people with all I have. And if you believe that as your senator, I would create real change and not just talk; if you would like to see me win the general election this coming November; and if you would like to support my campaign financially, click the button.
Every dollar makes a difference, and I deeply appreciate every one of you who has already helped me. Whether you have given your time, offered encouragement, gathered signatures, taken photos, shared your knowledge, registered voters, or simply cared enough to get involved, your support means more than you know.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Wopila my relatives.
To give you all the information you need to discover who you want to vote for, let me introduce myself.
My name is Celestine Stadnick, and I am a Lakota educator, school principal, artist, and community advocate dedicated to creating opportunities for the next seven generations.
I come from two very different worlds that have shaped who I am today. My father is Lakota and a Vietnam war veteran, and my mother is a Swiss educator. I grew up both on the Pine Ridge Reservation and in Switzerland and as a result, I somehow ended up with both a reservation accent and a Swiss accent, which I get teased about pretty frequently.
Languages have always been important to me. I speak five languages, although my French and Lakota are not yet fluent.
I hold a Master's Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership, taught children and adults for 12 years, and then held various positions as manager and currently I'm a school principal. My career is a result of the love I have for our people and children. My background also includes studies in graphic design and Waldorf education, experiences that have strengthened my belief that creativity, culture, and hands-on learning are essential parts of a quality education.
As a school principal, I have worked to improve student achievement, expand educational opportunities, preserve Native cultures and languages, and connect students with real-world pathways to success. Throughout my career, I have partnered with families, educators, tribal communities, businesses, and organizations to secure resources for students and create opportunities that help young people build successful futures.
As a candidate for the South Dakota Senate, I am focused on protecting our land and water, expanding vocational and technical education, supporting affordable homeownership, strengthening South Dakota's workforce, honoring Native rights and treaty responsibilities, improving public safety, and advocating for women, children, families, and men's mental and emotional health.
The values that guide me are the Lakota virtues of generosity, courage, wisdom, compassion, respect, humility, and honesty. These values have shaped my approach to leadership and my belief that service should always come before politics.
